A 96-year-old woman sustained serious injuries today when the van that had just dropped her off outside her Washington County home rolled over her, state police said.

Rose Anderson, of Canton, was unloading groceries when the van used by Washington Rides and driven by 35-year-old Selena Verner rolled backward over her shortly after noon, state police in Washington said in a news release.

Ms. Anderson was flown to UPMC Presbyterian with "severe injuries."

State police plan to inspect the van's transmission and emergency brake.
