Last month, the mayor had asked residents to help commemorate the city's 250th anniversary by writing short essays saying why they love Pittsburgh.
A top 10 -- plus one honorable mention -- were selected to be showcased on the city's Web site and television station. The lunchoen honored their essays, which were 50 words or less.
Among the winners was an entry by Vicki McCue, of Carrick, who wrote in part, "I love Pittsburgh because it bridges all that is important to my heart."
