Beth Ann Chester, fired from her job in the Moon Area School District after the case came to light, waived her right to a preliminary hearing today before District Judge Mary Murray of Coraopolis.

Prosecutors withdrew three abuse charges against Mrs. Chester, 26, but added five others, including statutory sex assault, bringing the total to 11.

Mrs. Chester did not speak to reporters after the brief proceeding. But her attorney, Robert Del Greco Jr., said his client has sought counseling and continues to be in treatment.

Mr. Del Greco described Mrs. Chester as "distraught."

He said she has been trying to do the right thing by not contesting her dismissal and by waiving her right to a hearing, sparing the boy from testifying.
