400 potential jurors to be called for retrial

A federal judge yesterday ordered that 400 summonses be sent to potential jurors for the retrial of Dr. Cyril H. Wecht.
Groups of 60 potential jurors will appear at the federal courthouse, Downtown, May 12, May 14 and May 19 to complete a questionnaire.
U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab anticipates selecting a jury by May 22. The trial is scheduled for May 27.
Judge Schwab on Tuesday declared a mistrial after a jury could not agree on a verdict on any of the counts after 10 days of deliberations following a seven-week trial.
Dr. Wecht was charged with 41 offenses including wire fraud, mail fraud and theft from an organization receiving federal funds.
The government has until tomorrow to tell the court on which charges it will retry Dr. Wecht.
