Winter weather advisory posted for Pittsburgh region

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for all of southwestern Pennsylvania and for southern Ohio and eastern West Virginia.

The advisory will be in effect from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, with predicted snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches. The weather service expects an inch of light snow by dawn and another 1 to 3 inches during the day.

The city of Pittsburgh has issued a Phase 2 snow warning alert and said crews will work 12-hour shifts to clear streets if necessary.
