A Venango County teenager has died after being crushed earlier this week by a vehicle he was working on for a school project.

Carl Emery Wickline III, 18, of Kennerdell, was working at home on the project for Franklin Area High School. He was lying on his back, attempting to remove the transmission from a 1997 Ford Explorer, when the vehicle rolled and the support jack stands fell, causing the SUV to drop, according to a Pennsylvania State Police news release.

The accident happened sometime between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. That morning, the teen's father noticed he wasn't in his room, went out to look for him and found his son trapped underneath the vehicle.

A friend of the teen created a Facebook group "In Memory of Carl Wickline" that includes photos and dozens of posts.
