The independent athletics integrity monitor appointed at Penn State University after the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal on Friday reported additional progress toward implementing provisions of the athletic integrity agreement (AIA) and recommendations of the Freeh report.

Among the significant AIA progress reported were hiring an athletics integrity officer, Julie Del Giorno, and obtaining more than 1,800 certifications related to compliance with the school's recently adopted athletics code of conduct. The report also noted implementation of 16 additional Freeh report recommendations, including policies and practices for internal audit, human resources, the board of trustees, and university police.
