Penn State ex-president Spanier gets US travel OK

A judge is allowing former Penn State president Graham Spanier to travel outside state lines but will not permit him to make any foreign trips.
Mr. Spanier's lawyer, Ed Spreha, said he was notified of the order Monday. It requires Mr. Spanier to provide five days' notice of any travel outside Pennsylvania.
Mr. Spanier faces charges that include obstruction and perjury for allegedly covering up complaints in the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.
Mr. Spanier also was ordered not to have any contact with current or past members of the Penn State board of trustees or with any witnesses in the case against him.
Mr. Spanier wanted permission to travel to Europe for work and family matters.
Mr. Spreha didn't comment on the order. The attorney general's office could not be reached for comment.
