The Pennsylvania Turnpike has lifted emergency restrictions on speed and trailers that were implemented during Wednesday's snowstorm.

The speed limit was lowered to 45 mph on a 300-mile stretch of the turnpike from the Ohio line east. Several crashes were reported during the heaviest snowfall.

The lower limit remained in effect today on the Northeast Extension from Wilkes-Barre to Clark Summit where snow was continuing but was discontinued this afternoon. The 45-mph limit was canceled, along with a ban empty and towed trailers, on the turnpike mainline at 7 a.m. today.

Road conditions can be viewed at www.paturnpike.com/webmap.
