Green Power Awards honor renewable energy efforts

Citizens for Pennsylvania's Future held its Green Power Awards lunch Thursday at the Fairmont Hotel, Downtown, honoring 30 individuals, private corporations, schools and public interest organizations for their work on renewable energy.

Larry Schweiger, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation, won the Green Power Visionary Award The Citizens' Choice Green Power Hero Award winner was Mark Dixon.

Other award winners were: evolveEA; Pittsburgh Plumbers Local Union 27; Chatham University; Walnut Capital; Solar Unified Network of Western Pennsylvania; Eaton Corp.; John Koller & Son, Inc./Fairview Swiss Cheese of Fredonia, Mercer County; Reinford Farm, Mifflintown, Juniata County; Kish-View Farms, Belleville, Mifflin County; WESCO International Inc.; PPG Industries Inc.; Allegheny County; Kingsley Association; Ann Jones Gerace, executive director of Conservation Consultants Inc.; Bayer Material Science North American EcoCommercial Building Program; Pittsburgh Penguins and the Sports & Exhibition Authority; ACTION-Housing Inc.; Michael Merck/West Penn Energy Solutions; Sherwood and Shawna Johnson; ChargeCar; Pittsburgh Regional Clean Cities Group; Fossil Free Fuel of Braddock; Michael Barton of Sidman, Cambria County; U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle, D-Forest Hills; and Jeanne Zang of Leetsdale.
