Former state Sen. Orie to appeal her sentence

Former state Sen. Jane Orie has filed a notice with state Superior Court that she is appealing her sentence for her public corruption conviction.

Orie, a McCandless Republican, was sentenced to 21/2 to 10 years in prison for using state employees to do campaign work and for submitting fraudulent documents to the court. She resigned from her Senate seat and has lost her license to practice law.
