A young woman was injured and lost consciousness after a fall off a cliff in a hiking area in Laurel Mountain State Park in Lincoln, a Somerset County emergency dispatcher said.

The woman, who is between 18 and 23 years old, was hiking with at least one other companion when she fell about 15 feet off of a cliff just before 1:20 a.m., the dispatcher said. A companion called 911.

The team of responders performed a technical rescue in which they pulled her up from the bottom of the cliff where she lay unconscious.

She was transported by helicopter to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown.

No information was available about her condition.

The dispatcher said the area where she fell, Beam Rocks, has been the site of previous falls.
