The National Weather Service was advising caution until late morning today as gusting winds and snow showers could yield tricky travel and uncomfortable weather conditions.
"We're expecting numerous snow showers this morning with an additional 1-inch of snowfall," said Lee Hendricks, a meteorologist with the weather service at Pittsburgh, based in Moon.
He said a winter weather advisory was to be in effect until 10 a.m. today. Precipitation was to taper offer by afternoon, leaving the region with highs for the day in the mid-20s. "It's going to be a bit blustery throughout the day though with winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour and gusts of up to 25 miles per hour," Mr. Hendricks said.
Mostly cloudy overnight skies will give way to a sunny Monday with a high in the lower 40s. "Anyone south of the Great Lakes is dying for sunshine right now. We're going to get it on Washington's birthday," he commented.
