Trolley service resumes after barge strikes Panhandle Bridge

The Port Authority said trolley service has resumed after it was disrupted when a barge struck the Panhandle Bridge that carries the light rail over the Monongahela River.

Spokeswoman Heather Pharo said the bridge reopened 6:15 p.m. The bridge was closed while inspectors examined the bridge following the collision that occurred about 4:45 p.m.

Bus shuttles were provided during the service disrutpion.

Regular light rail service between Downtown and the South Hills is resuming, although residual delays may occur as we work to get back onto normal schedules, Port Authority officials said.
