Township supervisors suspend Cecil police chief

Cecil supervisors voted unanimously to place their police chief on paid leave while an outside attorney conducts an audit of an account used for sting operations.
Township manager Donald Gennuso said the township hired attorney Phillip Binotto, from the law firm Eckert Seamans, to conduct the audit. He declined to comment on the investigation but said he expects the board of supervisors will make a statement when it learns the outcome of the investigation.
Washington County District Attorney Eugene Vittone said he met with Mr. Binotto and township solicitor John Smith, who told him "there's been no allegation of wrongdoing."
He said he thought the township had placed police chief John Pushak on leave out of "an abundance of caution."
Chief Pushak joined the department in the summer of 1974. Capt. Shawn Bukovinsky will act as chief while he is on leave.
