Student teacher charged with having sex with Derry High student

A 22-year-old student teacher from Indiana University of Pennsylvania is charged with having a sexual relationship in March with a 17-year-old Derry Area High School student he was teaching, state police in Indiana said.

The suspect, Timothy D. Lewis, of Waverly Drive, Latrobe, was charged with institutional sexual assault and corruption of minors. He was arraigned and released on $25,000 bond.

According to police, Mr. Lewis met the female student in the music class he was teaching. They had sexual relations between March 5 and March 18 at Mr. Lewis' home and a location in Indiana.
