A band of snow moving across Pittsburgh this morning likely made the commute treacherous in some spots, but showers shouldn't complicate the evening rush.

While the National Weather Service is expecting snow showers will continue on and off through the afternoon, forecasters aren't predicting much accumulation in the city, Allegheny County and areas north.

"This is just a little clipper that's coming down from Canada," said meteorologist John Darnley of the National Weather Service in Moon.

Other parts of the region are under a winter weather advisory: the higher elevations of Westmoreland and Fayette counties and parts of Garrett County, Md., and West Virginia. Some ski resorts reported a couple of inches overnight, Mr. Darnley noted.

Temperatures today and Thursday will remain below normal. The weather service predicts highs in the 30s both days before it warms up to the mid-40s Friday.
