Postponed assess appeals to be heard on Saturdays

Anyone who seeks a postponement of an Allegheny County property assessment appeal will have that challenge heard on a Saturday.
Postponed assessment hearings will begin later this month. All hearings will be held on the third floor of the County Office Building, 542 Forbes Avenue, Downtown.
The county's Board of Property Assessments Appeals approved that policy at the recent meeting.
Board members also reaffirmed the rule permitting only one hearing postponement for any party challenging the new property values scheduled to go into effect on Jan. 1.
A normal request for postponement must be submitted in writing at least seven days before the scheduled hearing date. Emergency requests are possible, but the appeals board requires written proof that all parties have received notice of any last-minute postponement petition.
