The board of metropolitan Atlanta's public transit system has chosen a Texas man to head the agency, passing over the chief executive officer of the Port Authority of Allegheny County, who was its other finalist.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority would hire Keith Parker, chief of a San Antonio transit agency.

Steve Bland remains one of three finalists to become executive director/CEO of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority in Florida. That agency's board will conduct public interviews of the finalists on Wednesday, spokesman John Finotti said.

There is no firm date for a decision, he said.
