A man is on the lam tonight after police said he bound and sexually assaulted his ex-girlfriend in her Armstrong County apartment and told her he had a bomb.
State police in Kittanning said Keith Kammerdeiner, 38, of Aliquippa, refused to leave an ex-girlfriend's apartment on West Main Street when she asked him to leave about 8:30 a.m. today. The woman told troopers she struggled with Mr. Kammerdeiner, who sprayed her with mace and sliced her fingers before binding her hands and legs.
The woman told troopers Mr. Kammerdeiner then showed her an object that he said was a bomb and said "if she did what she was told she would not be harmed," and that if police came he intended to use the device on them.
Troopers said Mr. Kammerdeiner then sexually assaulted the woman, who escaped about 2:30 p.m. and ran to a local business for help. Her call prompted media reports that police were investigating a possible hostage situation.
Mr. Kammerdeiner now faces charges of sexual assault, aggravated assault and unlawful restraint. A judge also granted the victim an emergency protection from abuse order against Mr. Kammerdeiner, state police said.
