Police chief charged in thefts from Ohioville

Ohioville police Chief Ronald H. Lutton amassed more than $45,000 in borough money for work he never did, state police charged today.
From January 2009 to August 2012, Mr. Lutton, 57, of Industry, falsified time sheets, submitted altered documents and received wages for regular and overtime hours he did not work, state police said in a press release.
He received $25,912.24 in wages, and $19,147.20 was directed into his retirement fund, state police said.
Mr. Lutton has been charged with a felony count of theft by deception and a misdemeanor count of forgery.
He was suspended with pay in August, Borough Council President Kenneth Doughty said at the time, adding it was a "personnel matter."
Borough officials could not be reached for comment.
