The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for much of Western Pennsylvania, including Pittsburgh.

The advisory runs from 10 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday, with 4 to 6 inches of snow expected from two weather systems that will move quickly through the area. Six to 10 inches may fall in the higher elevations, the weather service said.

The heaviest period of snow will be Saturday afternoon into midday on Sunday, it said.

The northwestern corner of the state, including Erie, remains under a lake effect snow warning, with up to a foot of snow possible.

Pittsburgh public works issued a Stage 2 alert, saying it expects 2 to 4 inches starting between 9 a.m. and noon Saturday.
