Who's the first baby of the year?

You'll never know.

The region's first child of 2013, born at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, came into this world at 1:28 a.m. Tuesday. But the little celebrity will have to stay incognito -- the parents chose to turn away media.

"We thought it was best to cede to their wishes and keep it private," hospital spokesman Chuck Finder said.

He cited the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which discourages publishing the names of the newly born.

Be that as it may, second place may very well go to Sloane Elizabeth Westlake, who was born at 2:51 a.m. Tuesday at West Penn Hospital in Bloomfield. She weighed in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 19 inches long.

Her parents are Sarah and Sean Westlake of Kittaning, Armstrong County, who have been married for a little over a year.
