New online tool reveals grades of Pennsylvania nursing homes

It is available on the PublicSource website with the most-recent figures relating to the number and rate of problems in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. Updated correction: An article published Jan. 6, 2013, incorrectly reported inflated numbers for the annual rate of nursing home violations at 36 nursing homes in Pittsburgh and some suburbs. The average rate of violations is 4.44 per year for each nursing home in the area surveyed, which is below the national average of six to seven violations per home. Additionally, Pennsylvania as a whole ranks below the national average for violations.
