A National Weather Service flood advisory will close the Mon Wharf beginning Thursday until further notice.

The National Weather Service's station in Moon predicted today the Ohio River will rise to near 19 feet at some point this week, enough to flood the Mon Wharf. The cause, according to the weather service, was the fast rate at which snow melted.

The flood stage is 25 feet, but water begins to flow onto the Mon Wharf at 18 feet. At 19.5 feet, it would be completely flooded.

At 1 p.m. today, the river reached 16.7 feet, according to the weather service.
