Pittsburgh's afternoon commute 'a little slower than usual'

About an inch of snow slowed today's evening commute.
Rush hour moved "a bit slower than usual," as many motorists exerted caution, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesman Jim Struzzi said.
The Pittsburgh region received 1.3 inches of snow since about 1 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh. In Pittsburgh and areas to the north, as much as 1 to 3 inches of snow was expected, with evening snow adding about another inch.
The snow likely will cause some slippery driving conditions on untreated roadways, the weather service said.
PennDOT snow crews will be out through the night, Mr. Struzzi said.
A winter weather advisory has been cancelled in Washington and Green counties, as well as in Ohio and the panhandle of West Virginia.
Portions of southwestern Pennsylvania, including Cambria, Fayette, Somerset, and the higher elevations of Westmoreland counties, are under the advisory until 6 a.m.
About 2 to 3 inches of show has accumulated in these areas, with 4 to 6 inches expected. Snow will be most intense through 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
A winter weather warning is in effect for Garret County, Md., and Preston and Tucker counties, W.Va., where 6 to 10 inches of snow is expected through 10 a.m. tomorrow.
