Meyerdale man accused in strangling waives extradition from Louisiana

The Meyersdale man accused of killing a woman and burying her body in Larimer Township waived extradition from Louisiana, where he was arrested Wednesday, and will return to Somerset County to be arraigned.
Pennsylvania State Police are working to bring 23-year-old Jonathan W. Beal back to Pennsylvania sometime over the next few days, they said today in a press release. He faces criminal homicide and related charges.
Mr. Beal was found hiding in a bathroom of a home in Marrero, La., a suburb of New Orleans, Wednesday when authorities with the U.S. Marshals Service and the Jefferson Parish (La.) Sheriff's Office found him about 6:45 a.m. He was taken into custody and detained in Jefferson Parish.
He is accused of strangling 19-year-old Justine M. Jackson, who was living with a relative in Meyersdale, and burying her in a shallow grave near the Great Allegheny Passage Bike Trail, under the bridge commonly referred to as the viaduct. The two had, at some point, been in an intimate relationship, Mr. Beal told police.
Forensic anthropologists identified the remains as Ms. Jackson's after someone walking in the woods found them near the bike trail on Sunday.
