A man employed by a Pittsburgh industrial insulation contracting company died Wednesday in a workplace accident at a West Virginia power station.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources said the state medical examiner's office identified the man as David Bergman, 57. He was removing insulation Wednesday at the FirstEnergy facility near Clarksburg when he fell into ductwork, a company spokeswoman said.
His residence was not released, but the State Journal newspaper in West Virginia said he was from Friendly, W.Va.
Mr. Bergman was an employee of Ross-based Burnham Industrial Contractors, which declined comment.
The FirstEnergy spokeswoman said Mr. Bergman was on site helping FirstEnergy prepare for a maintenance outage by removing insulation surrounding ductwork on the plant. Planks are in place to prevent accidents, and it's not clear how Mr. Bergman came to fall in the ductwork.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
