Man charged with threatening paralyzed Clairton officer
A Wilkinsburg man has been charged with threatening wounded Clairton police Officer James Kuzak in a confrontation today near the Allegheny County Courthouse.
Officials said Irvin Glaze, 43, then ran into the courthouse and into Common Pleas Judge Beth Lazzara's courtroom, where he caused a disturbance and was asked to leave. Officials said Mr. Glaze then tried to attack a deputy, who stunned him with a Taser.
They said Mr. Glaze recognized Officer Kuzak near the courthouse, where he was headed on a court matter not related to his wounding. He said something to the officer and threatened to knock him out of his wheelchair.
Officer Kuzak was shot and paralyzed during a home invasion in Clairton last year. Two men who had been charged in the case were acquitted of the shooting, though one of them, Emilio Rivera, 27, was convicted on a string of crimes related to the home invasion.
