Loose barges on Ohio River are corralled

Three barges broke free near Brunots Island on the Ohio River around 2:15 p.m. today.

The barges, which were loaded with coal, are under control, the Coast Guard's Lt. Alanna McGovern said.

A tugboat secured them, River Rescue said.

Bridge inspectors and the Coast Guard are investigating.
