A Lithuanian hacker who sold peoples' credit card information on the Internet crime forum called Darkmarket was sentenced today to five years of probation for identity theft.

Tadas Petrauskas, 23, of Brick, N.J., operated under the screen name Dr. Smurf. In 2008, according to the indictment against him, he sold to an unnamed Western Pennsylvania person passwords potentially giving the buyer access to the financial accounts of some 10,000 people.

He was caught at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York after flying in from Belgium, and was toting a laptop with many credit card numbers in its memory. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer.
