Lawsuit accusing WTAE of using wrong photo on kidnapping story settled

A lawsuit filed by a woman who said her photo was wrongly displayed on a TV news story about a kidnapping has been settled, according to notes on the U.S. District Court docket today.
Kathy Bass, 49, sued WTAE because the station mistakenly showed her photograph in an August 2010 story about charges against her daughter, Kathy Ann Bass, 24.
Judge Cathy Bissoon's note closing the file does not indicate the terms of the settlement.
Ms. Bass's attorney, Carlyle J. Engel, said not all terms were finalized, so he could not discuss them.
Local counsel for Hearst Stations Inc., which owns WTAE, referred questions to a Hearst corporate attorney, Eva Saketkoo, who could not be immediately reached.
Hearst had filed motions seeking to nix the lawsuit, saying that the statute of limitations had expired.
The kidnapping charge against Kathy Ann Bass was dropped but she pleaded guilty to lesser charges and was sentenced to between one and two years in prison.
