Johnstown man arrested in Somerset County chase

A Johnstown man faces a slew of charges after police said he led them on a chase after they attempted to stop him for driving twice the speed limit along a Somerset County highway.

Troopers initially tried to stop Matthew Goda, 25, about 8 a.m. today, when they clocked him driving 110 mph in an area where the speed limit is 55 mph. After they stopped him, Mr. Goda led troopers on a chase that ended near the intersection of Routes 30 and 219, state police said in a news release.

Mr. Goda now faces charges of fleeing and eluding police, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and traffic offenses. Online court records showed that he remained in the Somerset County Jail tonight on $15,000 bail.
