High winds pushing bitter cold into the region

High winds are pushing bitter temperatures to the Pittsburgh region, threatening to sink the mercury to its lowest level of the season.
Bob Davis, a meteorologist with the Moon office of the National Weather Service at Pittsburgh, said the inclement weather is being ushered in by high winds this morning.
A wind advisory was issued until 11 a.m. for all of the Pittsburgh region, warning that wind gusts could go as high as 50 mph.
"Batten down those loose garbage cans!" commented Mr. Davis, who admonished drivers of high-profile vehicles to exercise caution on the highways.
While the high winds will dissipate, they'll leave in their wake drastically falling temperatures.
"It's going to be really noticable," Mr. Davis said, noting that temperatures shortly after midnight today hovered around 48 degrees. Those numbers will be in the upper 20s this afternoon then will drop to single digits on Monday, getting only colder on Tuesday. "There's going to be a push of arctic air. The high temperature for Tuesday could be just 11 degrees. It will be bitter. With winds of 15 to 25 mph, we could have wind chills of 15 to 20 below zero on Tuesday morning," Mr. Davis said. The low temperature Monday night into Tuesday is expected to be 4 degrees.
Little is expected in the way of precipitation in the coming days, he said. Accumulation could be between 1 to 2 inches on Monday.
"The big weather story for Pittsburgh will be the cold," Mr. Davis said.
