Henderson named county EMS chief

Alvin Henderson Jr. has been named chief of emergency services for Allegheny County.

County Executive Rich Fitzgerald selected Mr. Henderson, a long-time volunteer firefighter, fire chief and fire academy instructor, to fill the post. Mr. Henderson has been serving as acting chief since Bob Full resigned in March to become chief deputy director of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.

Mr. Henderson has handled a variety of public safety jobs. Before becoming acting chief, he had been assistant chief of operations and training.
