A 21-year-old Florida man was killed when he lost control of his pickup truck on Route 422 in Pine, Indiana County, this morning.

Pennsylvania State Police in Indiana County said the truck went off the right side of the road and up an embankment about 5:15 a.m. The driver, David Christopher McElwaine, of Tampa, lost control, traveled across both lanes of traffic and struck the guard rail, flipping over several times.

Mr. McElwaine was ejected from the vehicle and declared dead at the scene, the Indiana County coroner's office said.

Mr. McElwaine worked on the Highlands 8 drilling rig owned by Chevron on nearby Kinter Station Road. He was an employee of Houston, Pa.-based Myzac Hydraulics Company.

State police are investigating. A toxicology test is pending.
