Federal prosecutors in Western Pennsylvania brought in $19 million during the last fiscal year in judgments, fines, settlements, restitution, judgments, settlements, special assessments and forfeitures, U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

That's up from about $15.6 million last year, according to the press release.

The increase is part of a national jump in collections by federal prosecutors from $6.5 billion in fiscal 2011 to $13.1 billion last year.

In June, the Pittsburgh office won a $1.98 million settlement in a false claims case involving the Excela Health Corporation and Westmoreland Regional Hospital, according to the release.
