An Armstrong Township man died Sunday afternoon when a tree limb fell on him in Center, according to the Indiana County coroner's office.

Jason Williams Drew, 30, was using an extended chainsaw to cut a large branch about 18 feet overhead when the saw became stuck, according to a press release from the coroner's office.

Mr. Drew was clearing trees from the edge of a field on land leased by the Reeger Farm, off of Anthony Road.

Mr. Drew and his uncle, William Reeger, tried to free the saw by attaching a chain around the limb and pulling on the chain with a tractor. Mr. Drew was standing underneath, holding on to the saw, when the limb snapped and fell on him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:50 p.m. of head injuries, according to the coroner's office, which ruled the death an accident.

No autopsy is planned and toxicology tests are pending.
