A Somerset man died after he was thrown from his vehicle in an early-morning crash today in Westmoreland County.

Benjamin P. Henning, 23, was driving a pickup truck on Route 31 in Donegal Township shortly after 1:30 a.m. when he crossed the center line and left the road, according to the Westmoreland County coroner's office.

The truck hit a utility pole and went airborne, finally landing back on the road. Authorities said they believe speed played a factor in the crash.

Mr. Henning was not wearing a seatbeat, according to the coroner's office.

Deputy Coroner Timothy P. O'Donnell pronounced Mr. Henning dead at the scene at 2:58 a.m. of injuries to the head, neck and chest.
