Allegheny County Council met a March 9 deadline for approving new council districts that reflect populations shifts over the past decade.

Council members approved the 13 new districts proposed by a bipartisan reapportionment committee at their meeting Tuesday. The vote was 14-0, with Councilman Michael Finnerty, D-Scott, abstaining. Councilwoman Barbara Daly Danko, D-Regent Square, chaired the committee.

Each district saw at least one community dropped or added under reapportionment. "We don't always get what we want," Councilman James Ellenbogen, D-Banksville, said of the new map.
