A Somerset County police chief has resigned in the wake of being suspended without pay after a photo of him and a woman brandishing handguns surfaced on the Internet.

Mayor Allen Gyorko today confirmed that Confluence police Chief Tom Keller resigned Friday, effective immediately.

"We're without a police chief. We're having our borough council meeting Tuesday. We'll decide what we want to do," said Mr. Gyorko.

He said the community of about 800 people has three part-time police officers on call.
