An Indiana County man has been arrested on charges he sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl last week.

Pennsylvania State Police accused Jeremy R. Allgood, 26, of Blairsville, of exposing himself and performing a lewd act involving his girlfriend's daughter and charged him with corruption of minors, indecent assault and indecent exposure.

When troopers arrived at his home Saturday morning, they found Mr. Allgood crying in the living room. He told troopers what he had done, according to a state police criminal complaint.

Mr. Allgood's girlfriend told police she had seen Mr. Allgood leaning over the girl but that she was not sure what he was doing, according to the complaint.

When she confronted him, he told her he was sorry for what he had done and that he knew it was wrong, she told police.

Later, when talking with police, he apologized again and said he didn't understand why he had done it, according to the complaint.

Mr. Allgood remains in the Indiana County Jail unable to post $25,000 bail. He awaits a Feb. 4 preliminary hearing.
