Allegheny County DA Zappala appoints Spangler as first assistant

Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. named a new first assistant and chief of staff Monday.
Rebecca Spangler, who joined the office in 1995, will take the position vacated by Chris Connors, who joined the Allegheny County Court administrator's office.
Ms. Spangler, who graduated from the University of Pittsburgh law school in 1992, most recently served as deputy district attorney, supervising pretrial screening, the ARD unit, the Phoenix docket court and general trial unit.
"My office has a strong reputation for solid stewardship and professional development, and I am quite confident that Becky will be able to continue and build upon that reputation," Mr. Zappala said.
