Achieva, which provides support for individuals with disabilities and their families, announced Wednesday an $8 million capital campaign.

Money raised in the campaign will be used for four priorities: developing public-private partnerships to shorten the wait for support and residential services; helping 1,500 more families through the Achieva Family Trust; expanding Achieva's pallet manufacturing plant in Bridgeville; and increasing energy and operating efficiency at Achieva's facilities.

Achieva already has raised $4.1 million toward its goal, including $1 million from PNC Foundation; $475,000 from Heinz Endowments; and $400,000 from Highmark and the Highmark Foundation.

The campaign is called Innovation in Support of People with Disabilities: Achieva's Commitment to the Community.
