Staff and students have purchased presents for toy drives; the science club collected canned goods for food drives; and the steel drum band performed at community events.
The high school Junior ROTC raised more than $3,500 through candy bar sales at various locations to purchase toys to donate to the McGuire Memorial Home, the Beaver County Women's Shelter and the pre-k class at Highland Elementary.
The science club was host to a food drive for the Ambridge Center for Hope Food Bank. Nearly 200 students donated food, and the club collected 5,302 food items.
The student council sponsored a toy drive for Beaver County Children and Youth Services. The group collected toys and clothing based on each child's wish list. This year, 51 children received gifts from the students.
Lincoln Park
Registration is under way for enrollment seminars to be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 and Feb. 13 for students entering grades 7-12 who are interested in attending Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Midland.
Each seminar will include a presentation, a tour of the school and meetings with teachers and administrators.
Those interested in applying for admission will be scheduled on a separate date for an arts evaluation and academic review. Some students may enroll in dance, music, theater, literary arts, media arts or health sciences in the arts.
Lincoln Park, a Pennsylvania public charter school, requires no tuition from families. It offers an academic program and pre-professional arts instruction. Students can earn college credits including associate degrees in dance, theater and musical theater.
