Business manager Kirby Christy will receive a 3 percent salary increase, adding $2,841 to his annual $94,700 salary. Mr. Christy has worked for the district since 1989. The raise was approved Nov. 1 by a 7-0 vote with Ray Walkowiak and Sharon Wilson absent.
Directors also set the starting salary at $86,000 for Edward Mantich, the new curriculum director/data and testing coordinator. It's $2,000 more than the original salary when he was hired.
• Directors voted Oct. 18 to change the facilities policy that inadvertently penalized athletic groups. Starting in 2010, the district imposed a $50 fee per season, or a maximum of three months, on each nonresident student athlete.
Director David Roussos said that in some instances, athletic groups were being charged more in nonresident fees than they would have been charged if they were a nonathletic group renting a school facility. The changes corrected the fee rate to remove the bias against athletic groups.
Mr. Roussos said that the revised policy also recognizes that some seasons are longer than three months. That time period is now five months.
The fee is now assessed on a group based on nonresident participation, not on the participants themselves. It is now up to the group whether the nonresident participant should pay the additional fee or if the group will share the cost.
Applications are being accepted from Stowe residents for the Region 2 seat of Joseph Vojtecky who resigned Nov. 1, stating that his employment and family concerns interfered with his ability to participate more fully. Directors accepted his resignation last Thursday.
Mr. Vojtecky was appointed Jan. 19. Applications will be accepted through 3 p.m. Nov. 30. Interviews will be held during the Dec. 6 meeting.
