The marching band festival will feature Carlynton, Chartiers-Houston, Cornell, Northgate and South Fayette high schools plus the Duquesne University marching band and the host district's high school show band and middle school band 7 p.m. Saturday at the stadium, Thoms Run Road, Collier. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students.
Directors voted Monday night to allow the high school symphonic band to perform at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association conference in April in Erie at a cost of $1,300 for motor coach transportation and $80 each per day for two substitute teachers.
• Directors approved the purchase of a 72-inch snow blower attachment from Bobcat of Pittsburgh for $4,400. Pricing is in accordance with the state purchasing contract and is to be paid through the capital reserve fund.
The 2011-12 Alleghenian yearbooks will be available for pickup from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday for graduates from the Class of 2012 in the high school lobby outside the auditorium and from 3 to 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Graduates who ordered and paid for a yearbook or a member of their family may pick it up.
All other students may pick up their yearbooks Friday during lunch period.
