• Recent students of the month at Crafton Elementary School were Bobby Bertosh, grade one; Autumn Bulebush-Clouse, grade four; Rieland Crow, grade two; Nathaniel Gibson, kindergarten; Madigan Graner, grade six; Matthew Hilarzewski, grade five; and Becky Shook, grade three.

The students were honored for their positive behavior at an assembly and their photos were featured on a bulletin board.

• West Allegheny High School junior Taylor Metz, enrolled in the masonry program at Parkway West Career and Technology Center, was honored as an AM session student of the month.

He was nominated for his efforts and positive attitude. Taylor is a member of West Allegheny's JROTC program and the junior varsity football team.

• These Moon Area High School music students qualified for the recent Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All-State Festival: Nate Copeland, Zack Houston, Hayden Keefer, Danielle Muise, Forrest Salamida, Adam Sniezek and Sam Stuckey.

• Here are recent Cornell students of the month: Anthony Dunn, grade 9; Duncan Lin, grade 8; Liz Mazzocco, grade 12; Lydia Ponticel, grade 10; Desiree Talton, grade 11; and Taylor Washington, grade 7.

• Pittsburgh Technical Institute graduate and School of Design faculty member Alicia Lee Cerullo earned top honors at the recent Adobe Photoshop World Conference and Expo in Washington DC. The Photoshop Guru Awards were created in 1999 to recognize and honor top achievements in design, photography, retouching and creativity. The awards program honors one winner in each of seven categories. Cerullo's digital painting earned top recognition and a Guru Award in the artistic category.

• Moon Area High School DECA students Matt McCready, Stefani Montelone, Lindsay Ottaviani and Zack Rich finished first in the Quiz Bowl at the DECA International Career Development Conference.
