West Allegheny school board members voted 7-0 tonight, with two members absent, to approve 1.71-percent pay increases for the superintendent, principals and department heads for the 2012-2013 school year.

The annual salary of Superintendent John DiSanti increased by $2,533, to $150,640. The salaries of two assistant superintendents increased by $2,037, to $121,139.

Administrative secretaries received 2.57-percent increases.

The raise amounts are smaller than last year's 3.25-percent administrative increase.

Teachers get average pay raises of about 4.7 percent a year, according to the district's contract with the West Allegheny Education Association.

About 3.4 percent yearly increases go to support staff, including classroom aides and maintenance, custodial, cafeteria and clerical employees.
