A Walmart spokeswoman said the reason people became ill and vomited in the company's Monaca supercenter is still undetermined.

Dianna Gee said the Walmart at 3942 Broadhead Road was evacuated around 7:30 p.m. Saturday after several employees reported feeling nauseous and suffering respiratory issues.

"From what I understand, it was something they could taste," she said. The issue was experienced in the snack aisle of the grocery section.

Nine employees and one customer reported symptoms. Three people were treated and released from a local hospital and several others were treated by medics at the store.

Ms. Gee said she did not know how many people were shopping when the store was evacuated as a precaution.

The Center Township Volunteer Fire Department and hazmat crews responded to the store.

"They assessed the situation and once the air was clear we were given the OK to reopen," she said. "We're just really glad everyone is OK and we appreciate the quick response."

The store opened again around midnight.
